Ian Taplin, the Lloyds Bank Whistle Blower has pulled out his fountain pen after a two month break, due to a near fatal cycling accident and promises to resume his popular blog.
Mr Taplin,53,of Maidenhead,Berkshire was knocked down by a pick-up truck in late January-and was rushed by ambulance to Accident and Emergency at Princess Margaret Hospital in Swindon,Wiltshire. He suffered a broken scapula and extensive bruising to his left shoulder, his left arm and down the side of his body.
Mr Taplin remarks;-
“The doctors at A&E remarked that I was extremely lucky that I did not suffer more extensive injuries given the “full on” violent impact of the pick-up truck.”
Ian Taplin is a cycling devotee and has pedalled extensively around United Kingdom and Eire,Europe,North Africa, the Middle East and Australia. He estimates he has clocked up over 50,000 miles.
On his longest trip he cycled from Windsor to Damascus, and his journey took him through 14 countries.Through his various cycling trips he has raised over £20,000 for Mine Clearance work in war zones;for African based education programmes, and UK based Adventures Sports for the disabled.
The Lloyds Bank Whistle Blower is a member of the Cycle Touring Club;and helps in campaigns to improve the cycling infrastructure in the UK.
Ian Taplin decided to give up his car and is conducting a life experiment whether he can experience a productive and good quality lifestyle without a car.He lives in a suburban village, situated between Maidenhead and Windsor in the Thames Valley. His home is near bus routes and only 2 miles from Maidenhead Train station.
“People should give it a go!If you live in the suburbs-it is possible. We need a lot more cyclists and with less cars -to make the roads safer;and to reduce the heavy pollution in the Thames Valley.”
The Lloyds Bank Whistle Blower was returning to Maidenhead on his bike having visited his mother who lives near Devizes,Wiltshire -when he was run down by the pick up truck near Marlborough.
Now feeling stronger and suffering much less pain Ian Taplin is resuming his writing on his popular blog.He thanks his readers and subscribers for their patience over the last 2 months.
“I hope to write at least once a week now focusing on the crisis in confidence in banking ethics and the failure of regulators and the politicians to deal with the conduct of the leaderships of UK Banks.I am also closely following events in the US.”
“ There is a growing alarm on both sides of the Atlantic that the banking elites have been allowed to get away with accumulating private gains, whilst exploiting a public trust.
“So the other day I whipped out my excitable fountain pen and decided to get cracking again!
“Was I battered ?Yes.
“Was I bruised? Yes.
“Was I shaken up?Yes.”
“How do you feel now?”
“Hell boy ! I feel like I have the power of a thousand flatulent hippopotamus ready to wet fart collectively and lawfully in their general direction!
“I am now fully able to grip my creative tool ; my fingers can now fully grasp the mighty fountain pen.
“Lets democratically kick up a wet stink!
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
Welcome back -the Lloyds Bank Whistle Blower-we have missed you.
